John A. Hopke, RA, LEED AP - Principal

As Founding Principal, John serves as a trusted advisor on all projects, contributing expertise in design, construction detailing, delivery methods, and quality control.

Professional
A lifelong resident of the Williamsburg area, John established the firm in 1990, and has guided its growth into one of the area's most respected architectural practices. With a strong dedication to the character of local communities, he has acquired experience in a range of project types, with special emphasis on adaptive reuse, historic preservation, and projects with special contextual challenges.

Personal
John attended William & Mary on a track scholarship and was Collegiate State Champion and record holder in the 800 meter. Today, he enjoys riding his road bike, casual computer programming, and reading about obscure metaphysical phenomena.

Interests

In my semi retirement, I am spending more time with grandchildren, old buddies and favorite passions.  From time to time I am designing projects that have picqued my curiosity over the years, and am keeping them in a curio cabinet to share with friends and family.
